I picked a bowl full of dogwood tree blossoms this morning

Spring is two spins away on the calendar and today became a good time to pull some weeds. I prefer to pull on weeds than to spray them with poison.

One thing led to the next, especially for the easily distracted. With two-fists full of what I call wild dandelion grass, I headed to the wooded area and redeposited them into nature’s unencumbered spring about to happen.

A toss into the woods created an unexpected shower of white dogwood blossoms. I paused and remembered. My husband planted this tree over the grave of our young lab Cody several years back. Cody had bloomed a bright crop of white petals this season. Many of the blossoms had already started their return to nature, falling to the ground at a slower drift than my toss into the woods had caused.

One thing leads to the next, especially with a reminiscent frame of mind. “A bowl of dogwood blossoms would be a nice touch to start my spring break,” I decided. It may be the sweetest memory I make today.

  1. What a beautiful memory for Cody!

And, thank you for pulling weeds instead of spraying, I do the same thing.
