STEM: Biotechnology Butterfly Unit

We have a new crew of Painted Lady Butterflies in our Biotechnology/Space Lab.

Many of the students remember a butterfly project in first grade, but we’ve woven the life cycle of these painted lady butterfly into our three-part exploration at our middle school math, science, technology magnet in Central Florida.

The other two units include a research review to explore if Bt corn pollen is endangering Monarch butterflies and the structure of the Blue Morpho Butterfly at a nano level with labs supported by CASE Nantotechnology curriculum (NDEP).

A special thank you to my colleague Ms. Golnik (our brilliant art teacher) for providing video technology support for the special video moment provided with this blog entry.

Cheers!
